Esta banda estadounidense de Rock alternativo y Pop Punk, formada en Florida en 1997, comandada por su líder y vocalista principal Ryan Key, y éste a su vez respaldado por el violinista y vocalista de fondo de la banda, Sean Mackin, deleitó por casi dos décadas a sus seguidores con temas realmente increíbles, dispuestas de composiciones notables, de letras fascinantes, de un ritmo eléctrico impregnante y todo esto sumado al excelso acompañamiento del violín.
El estilo de Yellowcard se plasmó de tal manera, que es totalmente acertado afirmar que el éxtasis de sus canciones no es el solo de guitarra, sino el solo del violín eléctrico que tanto los identifica como agrupación. Y es que era su más notable distintivo en comparación con otras bandas del país y del género como tal.
Entre las canciones de la banda que más destacan por la presencia del violín eléctrico se encuentran ‘’Only One’’, ‘’Always Summer’’, ‘’For You, And Your Denial’’, ‘’Rough Landing, Holly’’ y ‘’Awakening’’. En total, Yellowcard grabó 10 álbums de estudio, siendo Ocean Avenue (2003), Lights And Sounds (2006) y Southern Air (2012), los más aclamados por todos sus fans alrededor del mundo.
A pesar de que Yellowcard sufrió en varias ocasiones la pérdida o renuncia de algunos de sus integrantes, como el guitarrista Ben Harper en 2005 y el bajista Peter Mosely en 2007, la esencia y estilo único de la banda jamás se vio alterado y continuaron por la misma línea, extendiendo aún más el éxito que venían teniendo desde que se consolidaron como una banda reconocida de Estados Unidos y de la gran era del Rock alternativo.
La banda se disolvió el 30 de septiembre de 2016, poniendo fin a 19 años de carrera musical (con un receso intermedio entre 2008 y 2010). En la actualidad, su ex vocalista Ryan Key se encuentra llevando a cabo su proyecto como solista, aunque como viene siendo una tendencia cuando el líder de una banda emprende su propio camino musical, cambió un poco el estilo de su música a un sonido más acústico y liviano.
